William Basinski - 92982 (2009)

Seriously. I don't understand why people do not listen to ambient music. In large portions it can be mesmerizing, somber, and attach itself to our minds almost in one single tone. Basinski's 92982 are all those things, much like his other work on the legendary The Disintegration Loops I-IV.

Here it is the: 92982

the weakerthans - reunion tour

16:25Robin
kirg is our token funny accent guy
16:25Dylan
of course
16:25Robin
who cant pronounce things and we all roll our eyes when he doesn’t understand our pop culture
16:25Dylan
hahaha
16:28Robin
its important we keep kirg as the caricature character who never has any character development
16:28Dylan
yep
16:29Dylan
he's there to lighten to mood
hes like the fat guy, only he's swedish
16:29Dylan
but, he randomly had moments of genius every few episode
so as to prove his worth
which, but all accounts otherwise, is little to none
16:29Robin
exactly
occasionally we have a story about how krigs dad was never really there for him and never taught him english
16:30Dylan
this is like twin peaks, but less david lynch and more europeans
hahahaha
16:30Robin
eventually culminating in kirgs decision to leave the force to 'find himself'
unfortunately he finds himself... in a drug ring
16:30Dylan
and we're stuck with the task of bringing in an old friend
and ex-co worker

Bad Religion - Suffer (1988)

If there was ever one punk band to come out of the hardcore scene that epitomized everything it was, it was Bad Religion. While Bad Brains, Black Flag, Minor Threat, to name a few had released superb material in their early days they fell off quickly. Bad Religion finessed their craft after a horrible cheesey synth effort with their sophomore album Into The Unknown. They're debut was angsty, raw and full of energy and their third album brings that rage to the forefront once again. Suffer remains to be their best and one of the most praised punk works after being released decades ago.

Massive Attack - Mezzanine (1998)

You always hear people say that "this is changed an entire genre". It is rarely understood to another generation of how influential or momentous that type of statement really is. Mezzanine was unleashed in 1998 and soon after established even further what the trip-hop originals were capable of - reinventing their sound, while remaining extremely fresh and precise. Unlike their previous albums, reggae icon Horace Andy is featured even more exclusively on here and while there are still those immense soulful and hip-hop atmospheres swirling around, they're aren't as prevalent as they once were on previous endeavors. The latter especially as Del Naja and crew incorporate more electronic lushness and beautiful guitar incorporation at their disposal. From the illustrious outburst of guitars in "Angel Creeps" to the sorrow filled and heart-wrenching "Teardrop", it becomes increasingly evident Mezzanine has all the tellings of a classic. If there's truly one album that will hold on its own in the trip-hop genre then its most definitely Mezzanine.

move up slowly with this trip-hop classic.
